Fall 2018 program for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade players - new format
Submitted by wysa on Wed, 08/01/2018 - 14:26
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade players will play Saturday afternoons at Bird Middle School and (new this season) midweek evenings at Fisher School. The program will start on Sat Sep 8th.
The INTown program consists of skills clinics supervised by coaches from the New England Revolution, followed by games. These are the expected times for each group:
1st & 2nd grade Boys 12:00pm -1.00pm
Kindergarten (coed) 1.30pm -2.30pm
1st & 2nd grade Girls 3pm - 4pm
In addition, there will be midweek skills clinics held at Fisher Field:
Girls Mon 5-6pm
Boys Mon 6-7pm
Girls Tue 5-6pm
Boys Tue 6-7pm
Girls Wed 5-6pm
Boys Wed 6-7pm
The midweek sessions will run for 6 weeks and are designed to give your players more opportunity to develop their skills under the supervision of professional coaches, at an earlier age. They will be more position-specific, station-based training; allowing kids to learn the nuances of playing as a striker, midfielder, defender and even goalkeeping.
Each week your player should bring;
1. their shirt (Kindergartners receive a shirt to keep week 1, while 1st & 2nd grade players receive a reversible shirt on week 1 that 'must be returned at end of the season')
3. shin pads
4. size 3 ball (K players will receive a ball on week 1, 1st & 2nd grade players are to bring their own ball) which should have their name written on it
5. re-useable water bottle (with name written on it!)
Please check the website each week before heading to the fields for weather or field updates.
Volunteer (parent) coaches are always welcome and asked to arrive 30 mins early each week. They will be provided an itinerary and demonstration by one of our professional coaches, who will remain throughout the entire session to step in and assist. No playing experience is necessary to be a successful volunteer coach.
