Skills Patch Program

Are you ready to go for the GOLD?

Walpole Youth Soccer has a Skills Patch Program that lets players test 4 of their skills and strive to obtain a Bronze, Silver, or Gold skills patch. The goal of this program is to have some fun, reward achievement, and encourage the kids to practice soccer skills that will help them enjoy the game.

We will be holding two Skills Patch Nights at Mylod field on Sunday October 14 2007 from 1:00-2:30.

So how does it work?

It’s really easy – each player will get 2 attempts at one of the 4 stations and then the next player gets a turn. Players can try as many times as they like – they just need to get back in line.

Here are the skills that they will perform and the scores required to obtain a patch.

Juggling: Touches with feet without the ball hitting the ground
Bronze: 10, Silver: 25, Gold: 50

Dribbling: Seconds to dribble around 10 cones
Bronze: Boys: 35 Girls: 40, Silver: Boys: 31 Girls: 36, Gold: Boys: 28 Girls: 33

Passing: Passes through 10 sets of cones
Bronze: 6 of 10, Silver: 7 of 10, Gold: 8 of 10

Shooting: Shots within 2 steps of goal posts
Bronze: 6 of 10, Silver: 7 of 10, Gold: Boys: 8 of 10

When they are done trying (or the night is over), they will hand in their scorecard and obtain their patch. Record holders and patch winners will be posted on the WYSA web as a way to recognize what they have achieved.

Trophies will be awarded to the the top 3 scores in juggling and dribbling for 2 age groups: U12 & under; and U13 & over.
